My Two-Cents: Stupidity Precedes Wisdom

Out of all the things you could be, there’s one I don’t understand. Why would you want to be old for your age?

If we’re lucky, life is filled with lots of time. Time to laugh, time to learn, time to love, and time to make very bad decisions that we can learn from. The last of this list leads us to be considered “old for our age” or “wise.” But it cannot be achieved unless we spend an awful lot of time being “young for our age” or just “our age.”

I will have my entire life to be old. But I only have a certain parameter of time to be a fucking dingbat. To do things with full-hearted stupidity. Many could look at the time spent acting like a twat-waffle and regard it as a waste – but I think it’s quite the opposite. I’ve learned two-fold the knowledge from my mistakes in comparison to my successes. One day we hope to be wise, but the reality is that day and age can not bloom before its deadline. Why? Becoming wise takes time. And lots and lots of stupidity. Coupled with a desire to learn.

Stupidity is a rite of passage. It’s the mess-ups, the awkward moments, and the embarrassing decisions that push you to reflect, adapt, and explore your potential. Growth doesn’t come from playing it safe or being perfect; it comes from stumbling, falling, and then picking yourself up again. And the beauty of youth is that it’s the one time you get to make those mistakes with relatively fewer consequences. So embrace stupidity. It’s the ultimate vehicle for growth. If you avoid errors and skip over the uncomfortable moments where you trip up, you'll miss out on the most valuable lessons life has to offer. The only way to tap into your full potential is to embrace the stupid moments, – they push you to adapt, learn, and grow in ways that success alone can never teach.

You have your whole life to be old – so why start now? You only have a finite amount of time to be young – and to be stupid! No one bats an eye at a stupid twenty-two-year-old. But people (rightfully) grimace at a stupid 50-year-old. Everything has a rightful order, and in most cases, stupidity preceeds wisdom.
